USSR and its consumer deficit - an economy planned by the Soviet government leaving its people without the simple products that they so desperately needed.No amount of money could bridge the gap between a loaf of bread and a hungry mouth to feed.
Whilst the population struggled, the shop-keepers were the body-guards to the state’s means of manipulation - the bare necessities.
This is the reminder about the past, which is a reflection of present institutionalized corruption.
